Harajuku is a district in Shibuya, Tokyo, located very near Harajuku Station and Yoyogi Park. It is known internationally as a center of Japanese youth culture and fashion. Its extremely famous and busy streets (Takeshita Dori and Omotesando) are full of unique shops that sell fashionable clothes, accessories and cosplay costumes. Each shop features a different individual style.

Takeshita Dori is a very narrow, pedestrian-only street, filled with some of the most interesting shops and fashion that you are likely to see anywhere. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops that make for an ideal spot for people watching.

What makes this street even more interesting, is definitely the young locals dressed up in very different and interesting styles. Harajuku girls and boys have well-known styles like gothic Lolita, cute Lolita, punk rock glam, French maid, schoolgirl, etc.

If you want to look like one of the Harajuku fashionistas, plenty of shops and fashion boutiques sell costumes, accessories and cosmetics at decent prices, but be aware: Harajuku style is constantly changing and you would probably have to shop for new outfits on your next visit.

Since Harajuku, Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park are so close to each other, you should definitely take a day and visit these 3 places together.
