Mitama Matsuri is one of the biggest event of Tokyo held from 13th Jul to 16th Jul every year at Yasukuni Shrine. Around 30,000 yellow lanterns are lit up, iluminating both sides of the Shrine’s entrance and over 300,000 people visit during the festival. Mitama Matsuri is intended for honoring the dead and praying for world peace. It is organized from donations and everyone is welcomed to donate during the festival.

Over the four days, there are Jazz concerts, Neputa-Mikoshi parades and also Bon-odori dancing, a Japanese signature summer event where people dance in a circle to the traditional music.

Seeing people of all ages joining the festival and watching the many entertainments, I felt a very peaceful atmosphere here.
I just pray that this peace will continue forever.
