Like all the muslims around the world, Japanese muslims and foreign muslims residing in Japan also celebrate the fasting month of Ramadan. During this period they visit nearby mosques in order to celebrate with their fellow Muslims.

To celebrate the occasion properly, most of the mosques in Japan are offering free Iftar dinners to the local Muslim community. Non-Muslims are often invited to attend prayer and Iftar dinners, this being done also for the purpose of introducing people to the Islamic culture. Non-Muslims are free to participate in Ramadan and many of them fast and even pray with their Muslim friends or family members.

Most of the Muslims in Japan change their attitudes towards their lives dramatically during the month of Ramadan.  They start praying on time, they visit mosques more frequently and they tend to be less quarrelsome during this time.
