Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower is a communication and observation tower located in the Shiba-koen district of Minato, Tokyo. It is the highest self-supporting iron tower, taller then the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which was built to a height of 320 metres.

Built in 1958, the tower is 333 meters tall and it is one of the top sightseeing spots in Tokyo.

It has two observatories, an observation platform at 150 meters and a special observation platform at 250 meters, and it houses several amusement spots including a wax museum, an aquarium, souvenir shops and restaurants.

At 150m, Tokyo Tower’s lower viewing platform allows you to look down through a glass floor section. You can take the elevator or you can get there by taking the stairs. Taking the stairs (in total 600) will not only save you the waiting time for the elevator, but it will also give you a good exercise and a better view of the city as you climb up.

The 250 meters observation platform offers breathtaking views of Mt.Fuji, Mt.Tsukuba as well as incredible views of the city’s buildings and green areas. At night beautiful views of the city lights can be enjoyed.

Visitors should not miss the illumination that begins at sunset. The lights of Tokyo Tower are made up of 180 flood lights installed on the various parts of the tower, making the tower shine in orange based-colours during winter and cool white based colour in the summer.

Tokyo Tower is opened 365 days a year from 9am to 10 pm.
Separate entrance fees apply for the observatories: 900 yen to main observatory only and 1600 yen including special observatory.
